Several studies have attributed a greater percentage of cancer to lifestyle and unhealthy living.Cancer is a disease that arises as a result of abnormal cells growing in an uncontrolled way.

The horrible and devasting news can send you to space and back in a split of that second because at that very moment, you are likely to come up with a thousand thoughts in a second or probably just go blank.
In fighting cancer, everyone has a role to play but why should we wait to fight it when we can enjoy a healthy lifestyle and prevent the forsaken obvious. Didn’t we all learn that ”Prevention is better than Cure”?

Beans – Yes Beans, if you ever attended a boarding school like mine you would probably hate beans. They never made it well and there were periods they fed us beans every day. Food rich in protein helps to reduce cancer risk. fermented ugba or African oil beans is also a good source of protein. When choosing protein-rich food, it is best you choose plant-based protein food rather than animal based proteins. If you must choose an animal protein, grass fed animal is preferable than hormone fed animal. Beans contain high amounts of fatty acid butyrate which has protective effects against the growth of cancer cells.
Cabbage, Broccoli- Cauliflower,cabbage ,broccoli,kale are cruciferous vegetables. Broccoli contains sulforaphane that flushes out cancer-causing chemicals. Cabbage helps reduce the risk of colon cancer and breast cancer by 40%. You should consider adding broccoli or cabbage to your meal.
Blackberries – All berries contain phytonutrients but blackberries contain a higher concentration of phytochemicals. These phytochemicals inhibit tumor growth.
Apple,Grape juice, Pineapple- several studies have discovered that apple consumption can reduce cancer risk.Grapes are a good source of resveratrol . Resveratrol has the ability to slow the growth of cancer cells and inhibit the formation of tumors in lymph, liver, stomach and breast cells. Resveratrol has also bee known to trigger the death of leukemia and colon cancer tumors.
Tomatoes – contains lycopene . Cooking tomatoes increases the amount of lycopene your body is able to absorb. Lycopene also helps to prevent Endometrial cancer.
Walnut – An ounce of walnut a day lowers the risk of breast cancer. They contain Phytosterols which help to block estrogen receptors in breast cancer.
Carrots – I love carrots. Carrot smoothie, carrot juice, carrot soup, carrot stew, i just love carrot.Carrots contain lots of antioxidants.Antioxidants protect your cells from damage caused by free radicals.Ever heard of Ann Cameron? Garlic and Ginger- I hate the smell of garlic but that doesn’t stop me from adding it to my meals. There are several ways you can add, it gives you a great taste without the garlic odour. Garlic can stop cancer cells from spreading because of its very strong antibacterial properties.
Sweet Potatoes – Sweet potatoes contain beta-carotene. Beta-carotene. These beta carotenes inhibit the growth of tumour cells.
Green Tea -According to the American Institute for Cancer Research, Tea is the best source of catechins in the human diet, and green tea contains about three times the quantity of catechins found in black tea. In laboratory studies, green tea has been shown to slow or completely prevent cancer development in colon, liver, breast and prostate cells.
Whole grains – they contain several healthy food compounds that makes them very good cancer-fighting foods.Sources include Brown rice, oatmeal,whole wheat bread,sorghum,barley,millet.
